RelWave is a local-first database management application.
This Privacy Policy explains what information RelWave collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
Our goal is simple:
Your databases remain under your control.
1. Information We Collect
Application Data
RelWave stores application settings and preferences locally on your device, including:
- Theme preferences
- UI settings
- Query history
- Local project configuration
Database Credentials
Database connection credentials may be stored locally on your device using operating-system secure storage mechanisms.
RelWave does not transmit your database credentials to our servers.
Website Analytics
When visiting the RelWave website, anonymous analytics may be collected, including:
- Page views
- Device type
- Browser information
- Referral sources
This information is used solely to improve the website and understand product usage trends.
Application Telemetry
To help us improve the product, RelWave collects anonymous usage data (telemetry) via Aptabase. This includes:
- App launch and exit events
- Basic feature usage (e.g., executing a query, generating an ER diagram)
- App crashes and errors
Privacy First: This telemetry does NOT collect personally identifiable information (PII), database credentials, query strings, table rows, or schema definitions. Opt-Out: You have full control. You can disable all application telemetry at any time by turning off the "Analytics" toggle in the RelWave Settings panel.
2. Database Data
RelWave connects directly to databases that you configure.
Database queries, schema exploration, migrations, and related operations occur between your device and your database.
RelWave does not collect, store, process, or transmit your database content to our servers.
We do not have access to:
- Tables
- Rows
- Queries
- Schema definitions
- Database backups
unless you explicitly share them for support purposes.
3. AI Features
When AI features are enabled and configured by you, relevant schema or query information may be sent to the AI provider you choose.
Supported providers may include:
- OpenAI
- Anthropic
- Google Gemini
- Groq
- Mistral
- Ollama
Requests sent to third-party AI providers are governed by their respective privacy policies.
Local Ollama integrations process data entirely on your machine.
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
Information may only be disclosed:
- To comply with legal obligations
- To protect the security and integrity of RelWave
- When explicitly authorized by you
5. Data Security
RelWave is designed with a local-first architecture.
Security measures include:
- Local credential storage
- Secure database connections
- Native operating-system security features
- Direct database communication without intermediary servers
However, no software can guarantee absolute security.
You remain responsible for securing your devices, databases, and credentials.
6. Open Source Components
RelWave incorporates open-source software and libraries.
These components may be subject to their own licenses and privacy practices.
7. Data Retention
Most information used by RelWave remains on your device.
You may remove locally stored data at any time by:
- Removing connections
- Deleting application data
- Uninstalling the application
Website analytics data may be retained for operational and product improvement purposes.
8. Children's Privacy
RelWave is not intended for children under the age of 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically.
Updates will be published on the RelWave website.
Continued use of RelWave after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
